Foti Voted Best In Belgium

With a display that took its audience on a pyromusical tour of great cities around the world, Foti International Fireworks was awarded First Prize in the Knokke-Heist International Fireworks competition.

Set on the beachfront of the popular Belgium summer resort town, the competiton is one of Europe’s oldest and most prestigious firework events attracting major firework companies around the world.

As well as Australia (represented by Foti), this year’s competition saw companies from Italy, Portugal and Chile present their art.

Led by company Director Vince Foti, the Australian crew of four presented a digitally synchronised display, with a soundtrack that included ‘New York New York’ by Frank Sinatra, ‘Rio’ by Peter Allen and ‘Barcelona’ by Freddie Mercury and Montserrat Caballe.

The pyrotechnic component of the August 21st display included new effects designed at Foti’s Australian manufacturing plant, as well as aerial shells they manufactured at their China manufacturing plant.

“We’re happy to say that the newly developed effects made especially for the display worked a treat” reported Vince.

These effects included newly designed Roman Candles and Foti’s unique Strobing Aerial Shells, all of which were Australian-made.

According to Vince Foti, planning for the display began in January and required piecing together over 2000 pyrotechnics effects.

“The display was designed and prepared in Australia, and because fireworks are freighted by sea, it needed to be prepared early for its May departure”, said Vince.

“Therefore a lot of planning when into making sure we met this deadline whilst still producing a worldclass display.”

In the presence of local Belgium dignitaries and Mr Michael Mugliston, Australia’s Deputy Ambassador to Belgium and the Mission to the European Union, Robert Foti represented the family based company at the award ceremony held at the Knokke-Heist beachfront on August 25th and was presented with the “BBL Trophy”.

The Foti display will be seen in a Discovery Channel special called ‘Fireworks Road Trip’ scheduled for screening in the US later this year.
