“”The best fireworks I’ve ever seen, they were really, really cool, I liked the big sparkly ones.”
A child spectator, reported on ABC News, January 01, 2006.
At the stroke of midnight seven locations throughout the City of Melbourne erupted in colour and sound as the traditional New Year’s Eve fireworks launched 2006. The Foti International Fireworks-produced display included barge locations on the Yarra River and Docklands, as well as rooftop locations including Federation Square.
Crowds were estimated to be over 400 000, with another 800 000 seeing the display live on the Nine Network.
The digitally synchronised display featured fireworks specially made by Foti for the event.
“All of the fireworks the audience saw in Melbourne are Australian designed fireworks, with most made at our own China manufacturing plant,” said Hong Kong-based Quality Manager, Robert Foti.
“We combine the best of Australian ingenuity and our Italian fireworks tradition with Chinese know-how to produce the most colourful, precise and exciting fireworks available. We’re proud to have this unique manufacturing ability which enables us to continually set the benchmark for fireworks display production.”
Foti would like to thank both Events Australia and the City of Melbourne for their collaboration on Melbourne’s NYE fireworks over the past two years.
